My Carry-on Essentials

The beauty of living in Romania is not only that we are so close to home but the flight links around Europe are fantastic. Hardly anywhere is out of reach even if only for a few days.

Fly to Copenhagen? No Problem.

Italy? Even better, who’d have thought flights between Romania and Italy were so frequent and budget friendly.

All of these cheap, available flights mean it’s no problem to quickly pack a bag and disappear off for a long weekend at a moments notice. However, It’s no use arriving at a new destination, ready to make the most of your weekend, only to find you’ve filled your bag with rubbish. so what makes it into our essential carry-on packing list?

So what makes it into our essential carry-on packing list?

GoPro

You’ve run away on a quick weekend escape, who knows what sort of stuff you might get up to. The great thing about bringing a GoPro along is that you’re ready for any situation. You have a camera that is great for regular shots out on the streets, can capture high-quality video as you cruise along a canal, has a wide-angle lens to make the most of that viewpoint you’ve just climbed so high to reach and you can even take it swimming.

Sunglasses

How many extra pairs of sunglasses do I own because I forgot to pack them before a weekend away? Lots. Remember to pack your shades, hopefully you’ll need them where you’re going, what you don’t need is the extra unexpected cost of buying a new pair.

Converse

It’s hard to know what to pack for a weekend away. Are you going to be in super tourist-mode and need your best zip-off trousers (trust me, you don’t) or will you be experiencing the nightlife of a new city? We love Converse because no matter what you’re doing they fit the bill, whether it’s strolling the streets in search of the next big tourist attraction of making new friends in a lively city centre bar. Headphones

Let’s be honest, nobody goes anywhere without their phone these days but did you remember to pack your headphones as well? If like me you find silence defining then double check before leaving home you’ve got your earbuds with you (just try not to keep them in all weekend).

Painkillers

If you do end up enjoying the nightlife then having a pack of these with you might not be such a bad idea. You don’t want to spend half the next day looking for some pain relief when you should be exploring the sights.

Passport

I know, I know. It’s just another subtle reminder.

It makes sense to pack your toothbrush and clothes as well but hopefully they’re so obvious you don’t need reminding. These are the items that we’ve been known to forget by accident in the past and while  it’s not the end of the world we’d rather not leave home without them.
