Hipmunk Hotels: Cheap Hotels in the Mountain States, including Henderson, Breckenridge and Park City

by admin on April 4, 2016

The nine U.S. mountain states have plenty of natural wonders, including the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and the Rocky Mountains. Unfortunately, many tourists stop only at these famous landmarks and miss out on the lesser-known places to enjoy.

Boise

Boise, the capital city of Idaho, offers lots of choices for outdoor recreation. Walk along the scenic Boise River Greenbelt, check out some of the lovely hiking trails, or plan a kayaking or white-water rafting trip.

After your adventures, relax in one of Boise’s cheap hotels, such as the Rodeway Inn. The Rodeway Inn is close to the airport, offers Wi-Fi and free parking, and welcomes four-legged friends too, and rooms start at just $52 per night.

Henderson

Henderson, Nevada’s second largest city, was not only named one of the safest places in the United States, but also was recently voted one of the best places to live in the country. With eight championship golf courses and plenty of great hiking, including the famous “bowl of fire,” you’ll never find yourself short of something to do.

When you’re ready to relax, head to one of the budget hotels in Henderson, such as the Best Western Plus, where rooms start at $85 a night. The rate includes breakfast and free Wi-Fi, and the hotel is in the perfect location to take advantage of the great outdoors that Henderson has to offer.

Breckenridge

Breckenridge, Colorado, situated at the base of the Tenmile Range, is a popular destination for skiers.  Breckenridge began hosting the Winter Dew Tour in 2008 and continues to draw top athletes to participate in the annual competition.

Snowshoe Motel is perfect if you are looking for a cheap hotel in Breckenridge. It is in an excellent location just off Main Street, offers free continental breakfast, and is a great place to stay if you are planning to hit up one of the ski resorts nearby.

Reno

Reno, Nevada, is the smaller cousin of the well-known party town of Las Vegas. Although Reno does offer a similar vibe in smaller doses, there are plenty of other activities that make it a perfect destination for anyone who’s trying to avoid Las Vegas.

The National Automobile Museum, boasting 200 vintage cars, is one of the most visited places in Reno. Mt. Rose ski resort is just 30 miles south of Reno on Lake Tahoe, which is a beautiful place to visit, with or without snow.

Park City

Just 32 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, Park City, Utah, is known as a popular tourist hot spot, largely due to its nearby ski resorts and being home to the Sundance Film Festival. Park City also hosted part of the games during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

The Lodge at Mountain Village is a great cheap place to stay in Park City. Located near the ski lifts, it’s perfect if you’re planning a ski holiday.
