This is the year to do everything that your heart desires. Travel to places that open your mind, fill up your senses, and leave you rested and relaxed. Here are five locations to make your mouth water in 2017.

Brazil

Anyone who watched the 2016 Summer Olympics saw how stunning Rio de Janeiro is. Take a trip this year to see it in person. Head to the beautiful beaches of Ipanema and Cococabana to people watch, take in some water sports, or just lie in the sun and relax. Take a day off of the beach and head up the Mount Corcovado to see the 30 metre tall statue, Christ the Redeemer that watches over the city. Charter a boat and head out for some deep-sea fishing. Try to head there at the end of February to catch the five-day festival of Carnival. It is a huge party with brightly coloured costumes, dancing, music and the party never stops.

The Maldives area made up of 1190 coral islands that are located in the tropical area of the Indian Ocean. It is known for its beautiful white beaches, stunning blue lagoons, and its extensive coral reefs.   Male’ is the capital city and it is a great place to hang out. The Male’ Friday Mosque (Hukuru Miskiiy) was built in 1656 and its stunning interior is something that should not be missed. You can enter the mosque for free but non-muslims must ask permission before entering. You can also head to the Fish Market to see the catch of the day and buy souvenirs, jewelry, and other small items from the many mobile merchants that are walking around. After visiting the cultural attractions you can devote yourself to the water. There are tons of great beaches with water sports available or you can join a guided tour and head out on the ocean for surfing, fishing, or diving. After a day on the water pamper yourself at one of the many spas that are available, or check in to an over-water bungalow.

Morocco

Marrakesh is the capital city of Morocco and it is a fascinating place to visit. Make sure you head to the elaborate market place which is a labyrinth of alleys that you spend a day in shopping for jewelry, trinkets, elaborate materials, and tea. There are also plenty of you will dancers, musicians, and snake charmers in the area that will entertain you. Take a walk around the city to see the palaces, mosques and beautiful parks. Take a trip out to Essaouira to try surfing or windsurfing or just relax on the beautiful beach. 

India

India is a feast for the senses. Travel to a marketplace in one of the main cities and you will see brightly coloured piles of fragrant spices, beautiful materials, stunning hand carved goods, and fabulous foods. Head to the Taj Mahal in Agra to see this stunning white building that is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. There are plenty of luxury accommodations throughout the country with five star hotels in Delhi, palaces in Rajasthan, and beautiful seaside resorts in Goa, and Kerala. Hungary

Cruise along the Danube River in Hungary for a wonderful vacation on the water.
