Sharm El Sheikh – Diving Getaway

by admin on December 17, 2013

It’s no secret that we’re pretty keen on diving, we may not have done that much of it but the little we have done has really caused us to constantly have heading underwater on our mind.

We’re lucky enough to have been to some of the best diving locations in the world but now we’re back in the UK what are our options? We’re not brave enough to face the cold waters surrounding our own chilly country so what’s available when booking holidays for 2014?

It’s an easy answer really, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt has been a very popular dive resort for a long time now, especially for British divers who want world class diving but a bit closer to home.

So which dive sites should make the top of your list when planning a trip to Sharm El Sheikh?

Ras Mohamed

This national park is home to some of the best dive sites in Sharm El Sheikh and has no fewer than ten within its boundaries.  The area is abundant with very diverse wildlife which attract the majority of divers who make the trip over.

The Thistlegorm

Despite the stern of this ship wreck sitting at a great depth this dive site is still considered one of the best sites in the world.  With the right qualifications and experience this could be one of the dives of a lifetime.

The Temple

A rather unique dive site that consists of coral pillars that rise up from the seabed, the largest of which is known as ‘The Temple’.  It’s known for it’s wide range of marine life and lack of currents that make it perfect for beginner or night dives.

Dunraven

Another famous wreck that that makes for a superb dive site with experienced divers, this wreck sits upside down, with a number of entry points and next to a big reef, which only adds to the impressive scenes underwater.

This is just a small taster of the dive sites on offer in Sharm El Sheikh so if you’re looking for a quick getaway to get your diving fix then look no further…
