Sunshine Saturday

We’ve just enjoyed Christmas with plenty of food and drink and now we’re looking forward to 2016 and of course planning our summer holidays. The 9th January has been dubbed Sunshine Saturday as we try to beat the winter blues by looking forward to some summer sun. This weekend it is predicted that over a million people will look at booking a holiday. My Voucher codes have recently polled us Brits to find out where we would like to go in 2016 – you can read more about the research here. The top three most popular destinations were Spain, Greece and the United States. I can see why!

Spain

Spain is a great summer sun destination. It’s extremely close – only an hour or two on a plane compared to some of the longer haul destinations like, Thailand which is a long 13 hours away. It’s also home to so many wonderful beaches, a must for most people’s summer holiday. It’s set up perfectly for British people and pretty much a home away from home in many resorts with access to everything you’d miss from home. And, of course – it’s much warmer than the UK (always a positive!).

United States of America

The hardest part about visiting the US is deciding just where to go, it’s such a large country with so many different attractions it’s almost impossible to know where to start. I currently have about 10 different ideas of what my dream American trip would be but which one comes first?. At the moment it’s Florida – I’ve been there only once and since that time they’ve opened Harry Potter world. I could spend 2 weeks just there!

The US would be the place I would book if I had more than a week free. I would fly into Orlando, enjoy Disneyworld and Universal for a week then drive down to Miami and the Keys for some scuba diving. Another idea is to complete the coastal road trip from LA to San Francisco.

Greece

This is the place for absolutely guaranteed sun during the summer months. If you like to chill out on the beach and sunbathe then this is a perfect place for you between the months of May and September. I travelled to Greece last summer, stayed in a beautiful hotel and had my most relaxing week of the year, reading books by the pool and sipping cocktails while watching the sunset. Luxury in the sun, I’d definitely sign up for that again.
