Things to do in Benidorm

by admin on April 27, 2015

Theme parks, fantastic shopping, and even a chocolate factory to explore; there is much more to Benidorm than you might think. Here’s our guide to some of the more unusual things to do in the city.

1) Go theme park crazy

All of the family will be in their element at the theme parks in Benidorm, with not one but five theme parks to choose from. Amongst the best are Terra Mitica, which has enough roller coasters to make your head spin, and Aqualandia, which has a whole range of water activities; from traditional slide, to rapids and multiple pools, to cool off in. Terra Natura is a perfect place for animal lovers; you’ll have fun exploring the 79 acre animal theme park, which has lots of opportunity for kids to touch and feed the animals. The combined tickets are a good option if you want to try visiting both in one day.

2) Shop till you drop

Benidorm is a fantastic holiday destination, particularly for those who love shopping; with plenty of gift shops, clothes boutiques and unusual trinket emporiums situated around the old town. La Marina shopping centre over in Finestrat also offers air conditioned shopping, with many department stores and even a cinema. A perfect activity for when the sun gets too much.

3) Go horse riding

The rocky mountains and picturesque countryside outside Benidorm are ideal terrain for a spot of horse-riding. A number of tour operators provide treks for everyone from beginners and families, to the more advanced. It’s a relaxing way to explore some of the lesser seen parts of the country.

4) Sail on a Catamaran

You might spend a lot of your time in Benidorm in the sea, but a Catamaran trip also gives you the opportunity to fly across the top of it! Not only will you get great views of Benidorm from the water, but most tours also give you the chance to swim and snorkel at some beautiful scenic stop off points. Food and drink is usually included, making this a great activity for families or couples wanting to get away for the day.

5) Visit a chocolate factory

One of the most unusual excursions in Benidorm, this is nevertheless one of the best; especially for chocoholics. The Valor Chocolate Factory is in Villajoyosa, a few kilometres south of Benidorm. Take a tour around this 19th century country estate and learn about the art of chocolate making from one of Spain’s oldest chocolatiers. You may not meet Willie Wonka, but you will get to try some exceptional chocolate.

Benidorm may be a busy and bustling resort, but with this much to do, boredom simply isn’t an option. Enjoy!
