When I think of Paris I always think of romance! For centuries couples have visited this lovely city to cement their relationship. Now there’s a new way to travel to Paris with iDBUS coach trips so I thought I would try and find out what there is to do in Paris. We all know that if we visit Paris we will go and visit the magnificent Eiffel Tower and may also go and see the Louvre, but what else is there for budding romantics?
‘Love Lock’ bridge
This is a must for anyone who would like to show their love for each other in a symbolic way. The couple writes their names on a padlock and locks it to the bridge, and then they throw the key in the Seine River. The only way their love will be broken is if the key is found and someone unlocks their padlock. How romantic?
There are other cities around the world that also have these bridges but I think my favourite is Pont de l’Archeveche in Paris.
Church spotting
I don’t think you could go to Paris and not visit the Notre Dame Catherdral but there are so many beautiful churches in Paris why limit yourself to just one? You could go and find all the churches that were featured in the Da Vinci code film or just take in the sites from one quarter of the city. My top three are:
- Saint Germain Des Pres – the oldest church in Paris was built in 542.
- Saint-Sulpice Church – This was featured in the Da Vinci code. Since then it has become more and more popular as they want to see the Rose line.
- Saint-Eustache Church – this has a similar façade to Notre Dame but more impressively the organ features over 8000 pipes!
You may have never heard of Montparnasse tower but you certainly have seen pictures taken from it. The tower has a gorgeous view of the most famous landmark in France – the Eiffel tower. If you visit this tower you will get some awesome pictures that your friends will be jealous of!
I would recommend going at sunset so you can see the Eiffel tower when at night when I think it is at it’s best.
This is the most visited theme park in Europe. It has all the usual attractions you would expect from the Disneyland franchise, including the beautiful castle. They also have some impressive rides including space mountain, pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones and the temple of doom. The best thing is you can watch the daily parade of characters and even meet your favourites at the various meet and greets around the park. Disneyland Paris is on the outskirts of the city itself but well worth a day trip.
The thing I love the most about mainland Europe is that after a whirl wind tour of Paris other famous cities are only a short hop away. IDbus can also take you to the South of France (including the gorgeous Nice) or go from Paris to Amsterdam. Amsterdam particularly is a place I cannot wait to visit!
