When I first arrived in Bangkok, I knew I had found my new home…. In one square mile there are 6 shopping malls all lined up in a neat row, one after the other after the other. It’s heaven!
Most people will know the place I am talking about, Siam Square – the hub of Bangkok. Bangkok has lots of hotels, however there are loads clustered together in this area (so you can have shopping right on your door step). Whenever you visit this area weekday/weekend, night/day it is always busy and there’s always something going on. From impromptu street theatre to proper stage shows to Thai boxing (Wednesday night), just hang around here long enough and you WILL be entertained.
The shopping malls range from the dirt cheap, haggle over the price MBK to super swish don’t go in there unless you are in designer threads Siam Paragon. Although they are so different I love both of them equally! MBK is brilliant for getting nick knacks and getting a cheap bite to eat (go to one of the many food courts, they do amazing Banana milk shakes).
And Siam Paragon has EVERYTHING all under one roof, you can be entertained by watching an Imax movie, visit an aquarium or if you have some loose change you could always buy yourself a Ferrari on the second floor. And of course you can do some good old fashioned shopping If you want to be right near the action, check out hotels near Siam Paragon
If you are only in Bangkok for a couple of days I would recommend that you stay in a hotel near the city centre. It means that you are a lot closer to all that Bangkok has to offer, and you don’t have to deal with Bangkok’s horrible traffic.
