I was going to begin with a paragraph or so about how we usually eat quite healthily, then defend ourselves by telling you all about the various Romanian food we’ve tried since living in Bucharest. However, the fact of the matter is that everyone loves a good burger now and again so why worry about all of that.
Let’s get to the point, the sooner you’ve read this the sooner you can go and sink your teeth into one of these delicious burgers.
The Best Burgers in Bucharest (Including a *new entry* at the bottom)
Vacamuuu
The first place on our list isn’t even a burger joint but a steak restaurant, it’s all about the meat here and while steaks are the main attraction they do a mean burger too. This is actually the first burger we had in Bucharest and it was one hell of a start, a huge, messy, juicy burger with everything you could want on top.
This is the most expensive place on the list but being in Bucharest, it’s still pretty reasonable. Save yourself some pennies and dissappointment by avoiding the onion rings.

Vacamuuu Burger – It’s all about that meat
Switch.Eat
Chances are if you’re searching for a burger in Bucharest then you will have come across Switch.eat. It’s one of the most popular places in town and for good reason, it’s as much about the cosy atmosphere as it is the excellent burgers. All the classic burgers you would expect plus the extra option of a little something different each week.
This place does get very busy so be sure to book and you SHOULD order the onion rings here.

The Fire Club
If you’re staying near the old town and just looking for a quick and easy option then The Fire Club is the place to go. We love this bar, it plays better music than most (indie/rock) and is much bigger than you first think, with two separate sections out the back, one smaller and quieter indoor bar and a sheltered outdoor terrace. The burgers look simple but are cooked perfectly and very reasonably priced for the old town. A great place to grab a quick something to eat during the day (and go back to in the evening for drinks).

Grand Cafe Van Gogh
This is another great option in the old town and the first place we actually ate out in Bucharest. We’ve been back many times since, partly due to the fact that it’s a great place for anytime of day, so whether you’re stopping in for a beer and a burger or just coffee, you’ll feel right at home.
Looking for somewhere to have breakfast as well? This is the place.

Vivo Fusion Burger – The bread, the cheese… it’s all perfect
Vivo – Fusion Food Bar
This is our new favourite burger place in Bucharest, admittedly we only visited here for the first time because of it’s location (Dinamo has become my 2nd football team) but it straight away jumped to the top of our list. The menu is simple with just a few burgers and ribs as your options but every part of them is done to perfection.
It definitely feels like one of the cool places in town at the moment, with a funky interior and lively atmosphere. Tables also fill up quickly so again, be sure to book to avoid disappointment.
Oh, the house beer is delicious too!

NEW: EMTE
Drool…. The Spicy Burger at EMTE
So you write a post about the best burgers in Bucharest and then a couple of weeks later this is put down in front of you. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner (kind of). Vivo and EMTE are probably tied when it comes to our favourite burger but that’s fine because they are COMPLETELY different.
While Vivo is more of a traditional takeaway style burger (and I mean that in a great way), EMTE are trying to do something different, there are so many ingredients and tastes too each burger making it unlike most burgers you’ll find. The staff are incredibly helpful and love talking through the different aspects of their food and it’s clear they are trying to be more and more creative.
Their chips (fries) are also delicious and they have some great beer available too, a cheeky taste of the deserts didn’t disappoint either. The downside? It’s a bit tricky to get to and quite far from the centre but very worth the visit if you have the time.

Have you had any of these delicious burgers? Or even better, perhaps you know somewhere else that will give these a run for their money?

Great choices. Loved the burgers at the Fire Club. We like to eat local cuisine but sometimes you just want a burger.

The Fire Club is quickly becoming one of my favourite places to hang out, the food is good, the music suits my taste and the wifi is fast (although as you know that’s not really a problem anywhere in Bucharest).
